On a plot in Schillerstraße, the building that is not typical of the area - a two-storey building at the rear of the plot - is to be demolished. Instead, a semi-detached front building is to be added to the firewall of the neighbouring property. With its balconies, mansard roof and dormer windows, this will blend into the streetscape. The front building is planned with barrier-free flats with 3 to 4 rooms.
The rear building is designed as a townhouse. Three multi-storey detached houses have direct access to the courtyard. The charm of the three townhouses lies in the large balconies, a roof terrace, galleries and individual flat layouts. The different possibilities of the townhouse façades are analysed in façade studies.
The two buildings stand on a shared underground car park and basement. By raising the ground floor, a front zone is created in front of the building and the ground floor flat is removed from the street space. The courtyard is divided into private gardens and a communal area. This garden serves as the centre of the new building. The client is a building association.
