As long-standing members of the Dachverband Lehm e.V., we were really looking forward to the 9th International Conference on Earthen Building. At the end of September, we were able to travel to Weimar to take part in the conference. The three days there were packed with exciting presentations from all over the world. The topics ranged from research and standardisation to education and training, sustainability and modern earth building. The exchange of knowledge was enormous and extended beyond the lectures into the breaks and evenings. We then had the opportunity to talk to craftspeople, architects and engineers.

We came back full of inspiring ideas and newly acquired knowledge and can hardly wait to put what we have learnt directly into practice. We are convinced that earth building is an important contribution to climate-friendly architecture and see it as our task to help it become widely used.
