Here we go! Ground-breaking ceremony - employee dormitory, Heidelberg

On 8 March, together with Gesellschaft für Grund- und Hausbesitz mbH Heidelberg (GGH), the City of Heidelberg and Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), we broke ground on the new building project Employees: Wieblinger Weg residential home. Here, 99 small flats are being built in five buildings for employees of Heidelberg University Hospital.

The new building project is planned as a modular timber hybrid construction. This construction method makes it possible to construct the five buildings in a comparatively short construction time by prefabricating the façade and walls and is characterised by a high level of economic efficiency and ecological relevance. Even the bathrooms are completely prefabricated and delivered to the construction site as modular bathrooms. Thanks to the timber construction method, the natural material wood can be left visible as far as possible, the timber façades blend perfectly into the surroundings with their natural aesthetics and the residents benefit from the cosy properties of the wood on the ceilings and walls in the interior.
