The integrative cooperative housing projects in the Freiburg-Vauban conversion area were realised by PIA Generalplanung GmbH and were all developed with strong resident participation in the planning. Social, ecological and economic aspects as well as integration into the sensitive urban space played a particularly important role. The barrier-free flats range in size from 45 to 150 square metres and are characterised by an intelligent and very flexible floor plan typology. Genova I comprises around 40 residential units and a community centre, Genova II around 50 residential units and also a community centre.
