In cooperation with the city of Ludwigsburg and the beekeepers' association, a practical and teaching concept was launched at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HFT) under the direction of Professor Andreas L\u00f6ffler. The aim was to develop a building for beekeepers and as a nature information centre with the highest standards of sustainability for architecture and building technology on the site of the renaturalised Hungerberg. The building is made of rammed earth and wood. The optimised design allows both passive and active solar energy to be used in an exemplary manner and is equipped with an ice store and heat pump for the heat supply. The building was realised by the students of the HFT and the beekeepers themselves. The project can be categorised as exemplary in many respects in terms of design, construction and sustainability.
