Krumhuk farm, master plan and first construction phase, Namibia

Climate change does not stop at Namibia. A personal contact with the Krumhuk farm, which uses organic farming methods, gave rise to the idea of developing a masterplan for the construction and structural development of the farm. The result should do justice to the aspects of water shortage and water management. Ultimately, this also means a qualified densification of the settlement structure and a new coexistence of animals and humans. The first new construction phase was to be the construction of adobe buildings for volunteers. The clay bricks were to be made from locally available resources. The master plans and the first construction phase were developed and built by students at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HFT) and a team of experts under the project management of Professor Andreas Löffler. The development project was financed by the Mahle Foundation and the Knödler Decker Foundation, both based in Stuttgart, among others.
