District-based care for the elderly and community centre, Karlsruhe-Hagsfeld

The project in the Karlsruhe district of Hagsfeld comprises a specialist dementia care centre with 43 beds and a community centre. There is a courtyard between the two buildings, which residents can use for relaxation or for festive occasions. The location of the building and the connection between the specialist care centre and the community centre allow older people to participate in community life and remain in their familiar surroundings and neighbourhood.

On 1 April 2014, Prof. Andreas Löffler and Matthias Schmeling left the office P.I.A-Architekten, founded in 1994 by the former partners Andreas Löffler and Rainer Schneider, Gerhard Leicht and Matthias Schmeling, and founded the architectural office Löffler-Schmeling.
